GTA 6 Pre-Orders Hit eBay Despite No Shortage

Scalpers are marking up GTA 6 pre-orders, but the game is still widely available at retail price.

Get it at Official retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc.)
GTA 6 digital pre-order

GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, and while the game is readily available at its $80 retail price, scalpers are already trying to flip it for a profit on eBay. Listings are popping up at $90 or more, despite no actual shortage—digital copies are unlimited, and physical editions (which only include a download code) are still in stock at major retailers.

What's Dropping

GTA 6 is Rockstar's long-awaited sequel, launching November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s a digital-only release, meaning no physical discs will be sold. The "physical" edition is just a box with a download code inside. The standard edition is priced at $80.

When & Where

Pre-orders are live now at major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. There are no known purchase limits, and digital availability won’t run out. The game officially releases on November 19, 2026.

The Play

For resellers: This isn’t a strong flip opportunity yet. eBay listings are selling slightly above retail ($90-$100), but with no scarcity, demand may not hold. Watch for early buyers panic-buying before launch, but don’t expect huge margins. For collectors: Just buy at retail—there’s no reason to overpay.

Is It Worth It?

Resale potential is weak. Digital codes have no scarcity, and physical boxes with codes aren’t rare. Unless Rockstar announces a surprise limited edition later, flipping pre-orders isn’t worth the effort. For fans, pre-ordering at $80 secures the game without the scalper tax.
