What's Dropping
Topps released the 2025-26 Chrome Update Basketball collection on August 6, 2026, featuring four product tiers with varying investment potential. The premium options include Hobby boxes ($549.99 retail, our team estimates ~$1000 resale) with 1 autograph per box, and Jumbo boxes ($1099.99 retail, ~$2300+ resale) containing 3 autographs. For collectors on a budget, Value boxes ($44.99 retail, ~$60 resale) and Mega boxes ($84.99 retail, ~$120 resale) were also available.
When & Where
The drop occurred at 12:00 PM ET on August 6 through Topps' EQL raffle system for Hobby and Jumbo boxes, while Value and Mega boxes were available first-come, first-serve on Topps.com. The EQL raffle remained open for approximately one hour after launch. Fanatics also ran separate raffles for Hobby and Jumbo boxes that closed the morning of the release.
The Play
The Hobby and Jumbo boxes represent the strongest flip opportunities, with our team recommending full participation in the EQL raffles for these products. While Value and Mega boxes offer more modest margins, they benefit from higher availability and consistent demand in the secondary market. Note that Mega boxes were confirmed to be sealed for this release, unlike some previous Topps Chrome products.
Resale Outlook
Based on historical performance and current market trends, we expect Hobby boxes to maintain strong resale value around $1000, while Jumbo boxes could reach $2300+. The Value and Mega boxes show tighter margins but benefit from higher volume sales potential. As with all Chrome products, prices may dip slightly immediately post-release before stabilizing.
